About Ruth Wilgress, Toronto, Ont.

Ruth is a fine arts painter who currently resides in the Riverdale area of Toronto. Ruth studied and received her degree in Art History from McMaster University. She exhibited her work in the Orlando Museum of Art in Florida and in Kenora, Ontario. She is a lover of the arts and has adopted an inter-model process for making art. Ruth usually paints acrylic on canvas however, in the last few years she has started working on a mixed media series using recycled items such as bed sheets and computer parts along with other items. This series was developed by Ruth visiting land fill sites and documenting the consumer waste, especially all the discarded computers and electronics.
Ruth is an expressive arts therapist. She has lived in different parts of the world such as Shizouka, Japan, Orlando, Florida and Kenora, Ontario. She has worked with various non-profit organizations and worked with people with various developmental disabilities and mental health issues. This non profit work has of course opened her eyes to a myriad of social justice concerns.
